one strange morning

090722_0301

I finally got my field notes in the mail yesterday. It’s actually been over a year since I posted about these notebooks. It took me that long to finally order some. And although I haven’t tried them out yet, I must say I’m very pleased with the package. Must be all the futura.

If you’re a rss subscriber to one strange morning, or you just like to come visit from time to time, you would’ve noticed that I haven’t been posting that much in the past few months. Once in a while I would post a few entries and claim to be back but disappear again. I know it’s a horrible excuse, but life’s been pretty busy. I’ve been learning new things and trying to find a direction for both my personal and professional life. Also I’ve been wanting to re-design the blog – which obviously hasn’t happened yet, but it provided another excuse to postpone actually blogging. Due to my lack of knowledge in programming, and laziness, the re-design thing won’t be happening for a while. But I’m back for real. For now. Hopefully.

Thanks for visiting!

P.S. If anyone knows how to customize wordpress themes and wants to collaborate, let me know! I’m not rich, but I’m sure we can work something out.

A calendar that sucks up ink at a pace of one number per day. Nice concept, right? This is an actual product. Yep. Needless to say.. I want one! The idea is obviously brilliant, but I love the execution as well. Just look at that bottle. And the label. And the font on the label. Each month comes with a different color ink to correspond to the color temperature of that month. Beautiful..

Seriously. Someone needs to get on manufacturing this thing. It’s as simple as a digital clock can get. The power supply for each digit is self contained, there are no cases or covers to worry about, the color of the numbers change with a light sensor. Brilliant.

Let me just start off by saying I’m not a big fan of the Swiss Army Knife. I haven’t been since my childhood; not sure exactly why, but the aesthetics never really spoke to me. In my army days I got myself a leatherman tool and I’ve been using leatherman knives ever since. However I could definitely see myself using one of these limited, 125th anniversary edition Swiss Army knives. Very classic and simple. Ofcourse that was until I saw the price-tag. At $495, this thing isn’t exactly cheap.

Yes, I’m back again, from what seems like the longest break I’ve taken from my blog, ever. What better way to celebrate it than to post about a brilliant artist/doodler/illustrator, Cat Lauigan. Seriously, I don’t think I need to say much about Cat. There are tons more absolutely amazing intricate doodles on her website.
